ABOUT CASSIE FOX
Cassie is a writer, photographer, doula, and breastfeeding counselor based in Memphis, Tennessee. She is an advocate for equal rights and informed choice, and this forms the backbone for much of her work. A native Southerner, Cassie has lived in both NYC and Scotland, places which inspired her deeply and have contributed to the way her creativity has evolved over the years.
Although writing is Cassie's first and truest love, photography has become another medium for her storytelling. She believes that often, what we can't put into words, we can show with our photographs, and endeavors to tell each client's story authentically. She closed down her previous photography business when she felt her creative spark dwindle due to taking on sessions that didn't inspire her. She now photographs only the moments that move her and challenge her - women in the bloom of pregnancy and in the powerful throes of birth, and mothers and babies sharing the sweet bond of breastfeeding. She also has a handful of other session types available for those who contact her with a shared vision.
Cassie believes strongly in the idea of "wise women" or "village mothers", a concept sorely lacking in modern culture. Through White Doe Woman, she hopes to provide information, support, resources, and creative services for both her offline and online community.
